You are not a bad parent, you are going screen free all wrong

In this article I am going to be sharing my personal journey taking my kids screen free, and what I have made to help others do the same.

Failed 3 times to go screen free.

I have two boys 5 and 7, and my littlest girl who is 3. All of which at one point (dont judge) had unlimited screen time. When I tried to take the screen away, it was hell in a handbasket. Quite literally.

I tried it all, weaning, low stim shows, buying them new toys, you name it. All they did was ask for their screens again and again.

After the failed attempts, I knew the issue was something more fundamental I was not seeing. I was not going to lose my kids to these screens. So I began looking into how the brains of children hooked on screens work.

It's not just a tantrum.

When our children get hooked on screens, unfortunately its like getting hooked on drugs.

What you see as a tantrum, is actually withdrawal and if you are not prepared to deal with it in the correct ways, each attempt at going screen free is going to fail.

After understsanding this I finally achevied screen free children.

This was the missing link.

It wasn't will power, or my kids being bad, it was my lack of understanding their phycology when going screen free.

Going cold turkey is no easy feat, but it is the most effective. During each stage of withdrawal your child will feel and act differently and it can be tough to know how to support them as a parent. Understanding these stages removed a lot of the personal frustration I felt with my children and allowed me to actually help in the transition.

My recorded experience

During this entire process which lasted 30 days, I recorded each of the stages my children went through.

I wrote down the activities I gave them.

I also took notes on what I did that helped (and didn't help).

After about 30 days my children could handle dinners out, appointments, and car rides, without the need for screens.

I noticed increased creativity, using their imagination to make new games, and even just being more engaged during family moments.

So I created a roadmap

I compiled all of my recorded notes into a road map.

It had the stages of withdrawal

The physiological triggers behind each stage

What is going through your child's brain, and how to help your child differently through each stage.

I also created a list of activities based on what worked specifically in each stage. This especially helps the first 48 hours of no screens.

I wanted to know if this would help others who were in the same situation as me.

I gave it to 3 of my mom friends, and well, the results were amazing...

Tested my roadmap with other families.

Here is what they had to say.

Now I want to share my roadmap with you

Listen, I was the mom who would give my kids screens for 20 minutes of alone time.

I worked, was low on time and energy, and completely demotivated after previous failed attempts.

I refused to let screens rule my house, and I know you do too.

I made this road map specifically for parents, low on time and energy, and have already failed at previous attempts in the past.

I also included 30 days, of roadmap specific activities, completely free because I want to help people who were in my position.

No need to buy new toys, gizmos and gadgets, or install complicated screen time apps.

Its super easy to use, quick, and practical information you can implement right away.

Gives you the step by step guide, that if followed correctly, will guarantee change in your children.
